Google Talk has been recently replaced with Hangouts. Hangouts is the same chat client only Chrome-bundled. It also offers additional settings. Although it has been discontinued you can still download the program using its officialy direct download URL: http://dl.google.com/googletalk/googletalk-setup.exe
I have been asked to uninstall old version of Google Talk through Administration. How to locate Google Talk old version on my computer?

In order to find Google Talk on your computer you must go to My computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Google > Google Talk. In this folder you will have the Uninstall directory.
I'm looking to export the chat conversations from a particular contact on my Gmail account. I would like these to be saved on my machine. Can you help me?

All your Google Chat conversations are saved in Gmail under CHAT unless you have turned it off.

If you're using a proxy to connect to Internet, then it means that every application (proxy based) should use that proxy to provide its base functionality. This is like a loop and it's a bit complicated to make it run, but there is always the possibility to use Gtalk through the web browser in Gmail's interface. I believe it's the easiest way rather than complicating with proxy-through-proxy.
I cannot open inbox by clicking Gmail Icon in Google Talk. In Settings, this preference is enabled. Previously I could open my inbox directly, by clicking this icon. What is wrong?

Make sure to confirm the default browser association in your computer. You can check this in the settings menu of your browser. Restart Gtalk and then when you click on the mail icon, it will load successfully.
